Shelter

Issues and concerns:

There are hundreds of ways to build homes for people ranging from simple tepees or huts to vast mansions and castles. Every kind of shelter consumes resources and there are choices we can make to reduce the impact of the way we design and build the places where we live.

Construction of housing consumes resources and we can make home design goals that reduce the overall impact to the planet while maintaining elegant and very livable spaces.

Solutions:

Designing homes that incorporate design elements that include solar, low VOC emissions, carbon sequestration, and recycled materials go a long way to creating a home that consumes fewer resources with no sacrifice to quality of life.
